Wikipedia, an online database that is created by its users for its users, is constantly under scrutiny by scholars as they debate whether it can be used as a valid and accurate academic source in intellectual articles and papers. Dariusz Jemielniak is one of the few scholars that publicly support the use of and encourage the growth of Wikipedia despite being heavily frowned upon by a majority of the academia community. He claims that “as early as 2005, Wikipedia was recognized as not having significantly more errors than the Encyclopedia Britannica” and it has only improved since then. Clearly inaccurate data is not the source of the underlying hatred against Wikipedia in scholarly communities, it is instead created by scholar’s jealous of the site since they no longer have a monopoly on such information and the information they can continue to provide will lack the readership that Wikipedia obtains. As time goes on, the accuracy of Wikipedia’s vast number of articles will increase and leave no reason for it to soon be accepted in scholarly and academia communities.

Though Wikipedia may not be so much approved by scholars, it has great potential to be accepted by academic communities in the future because it is improving nowadays and it provides people with a lot of data conveniently. I believe that it will be more widely accepted in the future.

I agree that the accuracy of Wikipedia articles will eventually increase. I believe scholars will be more open to students using Wikipedia in the future.
